This outer casing is manufactured from two wires, which interlock into each other, one trapezoidal section and the other been round or trapezoidal. The wires are of a Carbon Steel Spring Wire, in either a Natural (bright) or Galvanised finish usually in the tensile range of 80 – 100 Tons Tensile.

Because of the way its constructed there is no loss on the internal diameter when subjected to a curve or radius. When routed through several radiuses there is a minimal extension of length, this is very advantageous when designing the routing of an assembly. This usually means that an applications finished lengths can developed easily, without the extension problems that are associated with Single Wire Casing, (see single wire conduits above for details.)

Twin wire casings are well suited to applications where there are high compressive loads, there is no tendency to loss of travel of the spongy feel you can have with single wire outer casing. Such applications for this type of casing would suit the following:

Twin wire casings are best suited to pull applications only, they can be used as an outer in push pull application providing both ends of the outer are anchored so the outer acts as guide only.

Automotive, Agricultural, Earth Moving, Fork-lift trucks and Industrial.

All brake cables applications Light, Medium and Heavy Duty..

Accelerator cables.
